Water Alchemy

Using water from the Thames that surrounds the artist's houseboat, Russell harnesses the river’s natural oscillations—combined with a closely guarded blend of ingredients—to create intricate, unrepeatable patterns. Some works are presented on paper, while others are photographed and transferred onto framed silk, preserving the river’s fleeting gestures in lasting form.
